Frequently question asked
What is the consortium
The UK Weight & Wellness Research Consortium researchs health, weight, and wellness solutions to help individuals lead healthier lives.
We are a collaborative initiative aimed at enhancing health, weight management, and overall wellness through advanced research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
What's the background for the consortium being founded?
We are a time in history, when more can be done to achieve optimal weight control, and transform the health outcomes for the population. This includes effective measures, and new treatments. To help herald this change, a group of researchers came together, originally at Oxford, to tackle health challenges, aiming to improve well-being through dedicated models, studies and surface actionable insights.
How can I get involved?
Stay tuned to our blog for updates on our latest research and findings. For collaboration opportunities, please contact us directly as we are keen to expand our projects, collaborators and thus make a greater impact to health, weight and wellness
What models will you use?
We will use state of the art models focusing on simulating strategies to achieve health through weight loss. This will include published and proven models like state-transition models. We also plan to use traditional epidemiological approaches as well as newer statistical approaches, such as machine learning.
Can you give personalised advice?
We are focussed on develping the evidence, and data to understand how these approaches might be effective at a population level. For personalised advice, tailored to you, it is always worthwhile talking to your choosen healthcare professional.
